This Privacy Policy describes how Nour App ("Nour", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and related services. Nour is operated by Ahmed Soliman (individual developer).
By using Nour, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Nour, we may collect:
- Account information: email address, display name, profile photo, and authentication identifiers when you sign up or sign in (including Google Sign-In).
- Profile and community content: posts, comments, likes, messages, photos, videos, and audio you choose to share in the community or in chats.
- Voice and video calls: call metadata (participants, duration, call type) and media streams processed in real time for calls and live streams. Calls are between users; we do not record calls for playback unless you explicitly use a feature that saves audio (such as recitation evaluation).
- Recitation and learning data: audio you submit for Quran recitation evaluation, scores, progress on learning paths, and related session data.
- Location (optional): if you grant permission, approximate or precise location for prayer times, qibla direction, and nearby mosques on the map. You can use many features without location.
- Contacts (optional): if you grant permission, contact names and phone numbers or emails you choose to share in conversations. We do not upload your full address book without your action.
- Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and diagnostic data to keep the app stable.
- Advertising data: device advertising identifiers and ad interaction data when ads are shown (see Section 4). On iOS, we may request App Tracking Transparency permission before personalized ads.
- Purchase information: subscription status for the optional "Remove ads" monthly plan (product ID
remove_ads_monthly). Payment is processed by Apple or Google; we do not receive your full payment card details.
2. How we use information
- Provide and operate Nour (prayer times, Quran, dhikr, hadith, community, messaging, calls, learning paths).
- Authenticate you and secure your account (including email verification codes).
- Deliver push notifications (prayer reminders, messages, social activity, incoming calls).
- Evaluate recitation and power AI-assisted features (Islamic chat, quizzes, tafsir) when you use them.
- Moderate community content and prevent abuse.
- Show advertisements and offer an optional ad-free subscription.
- Improve performance, fix bugs, and comply with legal obligations.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Other users: content you post or send is visible according to the feature you use (public posts, direct messages, calls).
- Service providers that help us run Nour, including:
- Supabase (authentication, database, storage, edge functions)
- Firebase / Google Cloud Messaging (push notifications)
- Google AdMob (advertising)
- ZEGOCLOUD (voice, video, and live streaming)
- Microsoft Azure (speech and AI features for recitation evaluation and chat, when used)
- Resend (transactional auth emails from
noreply@nourapp.org) - Apple App Store / Google Play (in-app purchases and subscriptions)
- Legal requirements: if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
4. Advertising and choices
Nour is free and supported by ads through Google AdMob. You can subscribe to remove ads while your subscription is active. In the European Economic Area and other regions, we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to collect consent where required. On iOS, you may be asked for permission to track activity across apps for personalized ads (App Tracking Transparency).
You can manage ad privacy choices in the app under Settings → Legal & support → Ad privacy choices, and reset your advertising identifier in your device settings.
5. Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our terms. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
Nour is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us data.
8. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate (including the United States and the European Union). We rely on appropriate safeguards where required by law.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights. EU/EEA users may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version at this URL and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
